Polystyrene is one of the oldest plastics in the world but still widely used by its affordability and outstanding properties like transparency in General Purpose (GPPS) and impact resistance in High Impact (HIPS) Polystyrene.

PS TRINSEO® standard grades portfolio includes general purpose GPPS as well as high impact HIPS grades for extrusion as well as injection moulding.

PS TRINSEO® specialities


TRINSEO A-TECH™ is high impact polystyrene made with Trinseo’s advanced rubber technology. The rubber phase in the polystyrene matrix are smaller but larger in number than conventional HIPS. This technology enables to produce higher stiffness HIPS maintaining the impact. The colourability is better than conventional HIPS.

TRINSEO A-Tech™ 1200 is the leading resin for thermoforming applications, allowing convertors to down gauge their end products.

Polystyrene High Impact tends to have low ESCR (Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance). TRINSEOA-Tech™ 1175 has high ESCR and is an ideal solution for refrigerators inner liners and other applications which require high ESCR.


TRINSEO C-TECH™ is a revolutionary product which combines medium impact with and gloss. When converted on thermoforming machines the end product becomes transparent.

It can also be used as gloss layer in multi layer extrusion applications, resulting in a very deep high end gloss effect.

In injection moulding it offers high gloss and medium impact.
